Hasbro, the World’s biggest game makers, hire World Thumb Wrestling Champ

Following his epic victory in the 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 finals, men’s’ thumb wrestling champ Paul ‘Under the Thumb’ Browse now faces a new challenge thanks to Hasbro, who have hired him to promote their new No Thumbs Challenge.

As part of Hasbro’s attempts to get kids off their phones and out into the world, Hasbro asked Paul to try to live for a whole day without using his thumbs. From trying to pour a bowl of cereal to tying his shoelaces, the smallest and most everyday of tasks become towering obstacles to the thumbless Paul as he attempts to navigate he normal day without the use of his prize-winning fifth digits.

As the world’s largest toy maker, Hasbro have put their name behind a push to get kids and adults alike to put their phones down, rest those thumbs, and enjoy the real world.

At WTWC, we’ve been at the forefront of celebrating the wondrous opposable fifth digit, but Hasbro’s challenge has brought even more attention to just how vital the thumb really is. Paul’s challenge demonstrated how useful a thumb can be, and how many small daily activities are all but impossible without them.

From pouring cereal to tying a tie to opening a door, all sorts of simple everyday tasks become impossible if you can’t use your thumbs. This goes to show what we’ve always said – that the thumb is the unsung hero of the human body.

Of course, Paul Browse’s thumb will be back in action at this year’s World Thumb Wrestling Championship, held on 5th August 2023 in Norwich – UK. Paul hopes to snatch another world championship title and walk away the undisputed king of the thumb ring making it 5 titles in a row and undefeated!

Come down to this years event with the chance of going Thumb to Thumb with Paul.
