UK Thumb Wrestling Championships 2012 – 15:00 – 28th July – in Lowestoft
Each Year the annual World Thumb Wrestling Championships is held at the mecca of Thumb Wrestling, lowestoft in Suffolk. On display are some of the World’s top thumb wrestlers who battle it out to see who will be the champions. If you wish to enter the next World Thumb Wrestling Championships, you can buy tickets to the event online or arrive before 14:00 on the day so that you can be registered – if there are spaces left.
World Thumb Wrestling is a colouful and fun sport
“World Thumb Wrestling is a fun sport, where competitors are encouraged to glam up their thumbs and choose a ‘stage name’ for their thumb before entering into battle”.
Lets look back at a vintage year…..2011. The winners, after some extremely exciting and gruelling rounds were, ‘The Cobra’ from London who beat ‘Flash’ from Edinburgh in the men’s final. In the ladies final last years champion ‘Thumberlina’ was beaten in the final by ‘Fancy-a-Thumble’. This years event was again awash with talent and the crowd were treated to some amazing thumb wrestling showmanship and thumb wrestling moves of the highest order.
That such a wealth of thumb wrestling talent was on show meant that each round saw some very close and exciting contests, with most matches going the full 3 rounds distance. With entrants coming from as far as Edinburgh, Birmingham, luton, London & Exeter the WTWC were really pleased that the event location proved to be perfect for such a contest, and more pleased that both the competitors and spectators had an enjoyable and memorable day.
We are naturally hoping that this event will increase the awareness of our sport throughout the World and aim to make this years World Thumb Wrestling Championships bigger and better each year.
