Thumberlina Returns wins the 2010 ladies title

The Ladies UK Thumb Wrestling Championship 2010 saw exceptional levels of thumb wrestling. Eventually, Jennifer “Thumberlina Returns” Cripps clinched the title beating Deta Von Thumb in a very close final match. Thumberlina Returns, Collected the £100 goody pack from www.TheRandomShop.co.uk, championship trophy and all the kudos that goes with being the very best ladies thumb wrestler in the UK. Jennifer was a losing finalist last year and she said “the disapointment from last year was what has driven me to success this year. I have been putting the practice in and i’m so glad it has paid off and I am now the best ladies thumb wrestler in the UK, maybe the world”.

Thumbertaker Clinches Title in 2010

After a gruelling mens championship, where blood sweat and tears were shed, Thumbertaker was the eventual winner of the Men’s UK Thumb Wrestling Champioships! 32 competitors battled it out, with former winner Thumbderbird1 losing in the semi finals to this years eventual winner. Jed “The ThumberTaker” scooped the £100 goodie pack from www.TheRandomShop.co.uk, the winners trophy and all the kudos that goes with being the best thumb wrestling in the whole of the UK. The 2nd ever UK Thumb Wresting Championships will soon be upon us

This sporting event will see the very best thumb wrestlers from across the UK battling it out to be crowned the 2nd ever official UK thumb wrestling champion.

Thumb wrestling or thumb warring is a popular game played by two players in a tournament called a thumb-a-war (or thumb war). Thumb Wrestling competitors hook the four fingers of their right (or left) hands together such that both hands are clasped tightly. Then a short starting chant is performed and the 60 second contest begins, with the winner being the person who can hold down the opponents thumb for as long as it takes to say, one, two, three, four, I win thumb-o-war!

The UK Thumb Wrestling Association are proud to be again holding the UK Thumb Wrestling Championships. Thumb wrestling has for a long time been an under valued sport in the UK calendar which is surprising as nearly 50% of the population participate in thumb wrestling at least once a year. We therefore hope this event will have a long and prosperous future and we aim to be pushing the London 2012 Olympic committee to have Thumb Wrestling recognised as an Olympic event in the forthcoming Olympic games.

We have lift off! Thumbderbird1 Triumphs to Men’s UKTW Championship

“Thumderbird1″ AKA Gareth Newman, Lowestoft, Suffolk, conquered all that came before him to become the Men’s UK Thumb Wrestling Champion 2009. Thumbderbird1 battled through each match, with nearly each of his rounds going the full distance. But after a long afternoon’s Thumb Wrestling, Thumbderbird1 was certainly a deserved winner.

Mr Newman, would only class himself as a semi-professional thumb wrestler, but he had his younger brothers putting him through some gruelling training schedules in the weeks prior to the championship, and all that hard work and commitment certainly paid off for Thumbderbird1. The defeated Thumbertaker [aka Jed Bellis], was glowing in his admiration for his defeater, “I thought i had him on several occasion, but he kept wriggling out of my pin-moves, eventually i tired and he got me on 2 reverse pins. He was a worthy winner and I wish him all the luck in the future.”

Thumbs up all round as Mega Becks proves a worthy champion

“Mega Becks” Aka Rebecca Hart, From Norwich, Norfolk was crowned the ladies UK Thumb Wrestling Champion after some brilliant thumb wrestling displays and a final winning pin move well worthy of clinching any Thumb Wrestling title.

Ms Hart, is an experienced thumb wrestler, but she was still waiting to win her 1st major title. After winning the final in the deciding round, with just under 10 seconds left before the match went to a sudden death, Rebecca, in her alto ego stage name of “Mega Becks” managed to manoeuvre out from a great pin from the unlucky losing finalist [Thumberlina aka Jenny Cripps], and reversed the move to pull off an excellent tournament winning pin down.
